Got a bunch of ripe peaches and not sure how to use them? Try Peach Juice! It makes a vibrant, sweet and tangy healthy drink, that you won’t want to put down. Or, you can sweeten it to make peach nectar for use in cocktails. We’ll admit, when we think peaches we first think of peach desserts. But peach juice is a fun and healthy way to use this juicy fruit: it’s like simpler spin on a smoothie. We love drinking it as a fruit component for lunches or snacks and it’s ultra refreshing. Here’s how to make it: using either a blender or a juicer!

Ingredients for peach juice

Peach juice is easy to make and requires just 2 ingredients. We had a load of peaches, in addition to making peach crumble, peach ice cream, and freezing them, we still had a few left over. This is a great way to use overripe peaches that are past their prime, which reduces food waste. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Ripe peaches: You’ll want the ripest, juicy peaches for making juice
  • Lemon: Fresh lemon juice adds a nice tangy kick to the flavor!

Tips on sweetener

You’ll notice there is no added sugar here: our peaches were so ripe and juicy that they tasted incredible with no sugar. However depending on the ripeness of your fruit, you may want to add a bit of sweetener. Or, you can sweeten the juice aggressively to make a cocktail juice. Here’s what to do:

  • Taste and add a hint of sugar, honey or maple syrup to taste. Peach ripeness and sweetness can vary widely, so feel free to add some of the sweetener of your choice.
  • To make peach nectar, add 2 tablespoons simple syrup. This makes a very sweet juice that works for peach cocktails (see below).

How to make peach juice

Ready to get started? Here’s how to make peach juice in a blender! If you do have a juicer, you can also make this recipe. Simply pass all the ingredients in the recipe below through your juicer. Here’s what to do:

  • Blend all ingredients on high until pureed and smooth. It will look like a thick smoothie at this point.
  • Strain! This is the important part. Strain the juice through a fine mesh sieve. (A nut milk bag isn’t needed here, though you can use it as well.)
  • Add lemon juice. Lemon juice adds just the right brightness to the flavor at the end.
  • Sweeten to taste. See above for notes on sweetener.

Storage info

Store homemade peach juice refrigerator for 2 to 3 days. The lemon juice and any added sugar will help to preserve the peaches. You can keep the peach nectar for a few days longer, since it has more added sugar.
